Wrexham

As the largest town in North Wales, Wrexham has long been the administrative and cultural centre for the surrounding districts. Just across the border from the popular English tourist town of Chester, Wrexham also has much to offer visitors with the beautiful St Giles Church, the National Trust property of Erddig Hall, and the Wrexham Racecourse (home to Wrexham Football Club) amongst the highlights. Connected to Chester in the north-east by the A483 (later the A55) and Shrewsbury in the south-east by the A5, Wrexham has also got great rail connections - the Wrexham to London line through Shrewsbury is popular, as is the Wrexham to Birkenhead route. The nearest airport is Liverpool International (John Lennon) to the north. There is a good variety of accommodation available in Wrexham, ranging from several national-chain hotels to quaint bed and breakfasts and cottages for hire. Smaller villages in the surrounding areas also offer bed and breakfast accommodation.
