Stirling

Regarded as one of the most beautiful towns in Scotland, Stirling has historically been the epicentre of Highland politics and remains a cultural gem. Much of the breath-taking architecture in the town remains from the medieval period, with Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument, Cambuskenneth Abbey and the Church of the Holy Rood being the major draw-cards for visitors. Stirling is situated to the north-east of Glasgow off of the M80 and north-west of Edinburgh from the M9. Stirling is at a junction that receives rail services from both Edinburgh and Glasgow, before funnelling them north into the Highlands. Stirlings closest airport is the Edinburgh International Airport. There are many good quality hotels in Stirling, ranging from back-packing accommodation and hostels to guest houses, bed and breakfasts and national hotel chains. The busy months in Stirling (the summer peak period) can see accommodation booked out quickly, so book in advance if this is the time you intend to travel.
