Famed for its internationally renowned university, Oxford is a city that has much more to offer visitors than a few libraries and educational relics. Its architecture ranges from early Saxon through to modern though it is the Gothic spires and college buildings that are of particular note. The Oxford University Museum of Natural History, the Ashmolean Museum and the Bodelian Library are all of interest, as are the green spaces along the Thames and Cherwell Rivers. Oxford is situated west of the M40 that leads south-east to the M25 London ring-road. Oxford has no major airport of its own but is close enough to London Heathrow for an easy commute. Train and bus services to and from London, Manchester and Birmingham are also frequent. Oxford has a huge variety of boutique and bed and breakfast style accommodation, as it is a popular destination for weekend breaks. Hotels within the city centre can be pricey, but there are hostels and budget hotels within the urban precinct for those looking for a cut-price option.
